Captain Morgan is a versatile spiced rum that can be added to a lot of drinks. It is distilled from sugarcane and Caribbean spices are added to it while it is aging. Captain comes in several flavors, but many people prefer the original for its golden color slight spicy bite. It adds flavor and kick without being overpowering.

Captain Al

This drink is like an amaretto sour with a little extra spicy kick.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 ounce original Captain
  • 1/2 ounce almond liqueur
  • 1/2 ounce cranberry juice
  • 1/4 ounce sour mix
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. Fill an old fashioned glass halfway with ice.
  2. Add all of the ingredients.
  3. Stir with a cocktail spoon or stir stick until mixed.


​Captain With a Skirt

The flavor of this drink will depend on which wine you use. It can be either sweet or dry.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces original Captain
  • 2 ounces any white wine
  • 1 can cola
  • Ice
  • Lime for garnish

Instructions

  1. Fill an old fashioned glass with ice.
  2. Add in Captain and wine.
  3. Stir.
  4. Pour cola on top.
  5. Garnish with a lime if desired.

Captain's Coffee

If you like your coffee black and strong, you will enjoy this drink.

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce original Captain
  • 1 ounce coffee-flavored liqueur
  • 1/4 ounce bitters
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice.
  2. Strain into a rocks glass or mug.
  3. Add ice cubes as desired.

Cinnamon Toast

This sweet drink is perfect for fall and for holiday get-togethers.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 ounces original Captain
  • 6 ounces apple juice or cider
  • Cinnamon stick for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat juice or cider in a saucepan to desired temperature.
  2. Pour into an old fashioned glass.
  3. Garnish with a cinnamon stick.

Dewing the Captain

This drink takes on the flavor of the Dew, so choose your soda wisely.

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce original Captain
  • 1 can Mountain Dew (any flavor)
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. Fill a rocks glass with ice.
  2. Pour in both ingredients.
  3. Stir.

Shark Bite

If you like tropical drinks but wish they were a little spicier, your wish is granted with this Captain Morgan drink.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 ounce original Captain
  • 1/2 ounce light rum
  • 1/2 ounce blue curacao
  • 1 ounce sour mix
  • 1 teaspoon grenadine
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. Fill a rocks glass halfway with ice.
  2. Add the first four ingredients to a shaker with ice.
  3. Strain into the glass.
  4. Drizzle the grenadine on top.

Captain's Silver Sunrise

The vanilla flavor of Captain Silver and the coconut taste of Parrot Bay make a traditional tequila sunrise more tropical.

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce Captain Silver
  • 1 1/2 ounces Parrot Bay
  • 1/2 ounce orange juice
  • 1/2 ounce cranberry juice
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. Fill a rocks glass with ice.
  2. Pour in Captain and Parrot Bay.
  3. Stir.
  4. Layer on orange juice and cranberry juice.

Substitute Spiced Rum for Captain

All of these drinks are also good with another spiced rum if you don't happen to have Captain on hand. Just don't use a light or dark rum, as that will distinctly alter the flavor.
