Making Blender Drink Recipes
Whether you are planning a poolside party or you're simply yearning for the days of summer, you may wish to learn a few basic blender drink recipes. Fruit and liquor, plus a few mixers, can make for a variety of tasty, refreshing drinks.
Classic Frozen Margarita
The Margarita is likely one of the first drinks that comes to mind when you think of blended, frozen cocktails. To make your own, add an ounce and a half of tequila, an ounce of orange liqueur (such as triple sec or Grand Marnier), an ounce of lime juice and a splash of simple syrup to a blender along with a cup of ice. Blend the ingredients until smooth, and pour the drink into a festive glass. Salt the rim beforehand if you like.
Tasty Frozen Pina Colada
Another popular blended drink is the Pina Colada. It's sweet, tropical and intoxicating all at once. This rum-based drink calls for three of ounces of the liquor, three ounces of pineapple juice, three ounces of coconut cream and plenty of ice. Blend the ingredients together, pour into your glass and garnish it with a pineapple slice and a cherry.
Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri
The frozen strawberry Daiquiri is a crowd pleaser. Combine fresh strawberries, two ounces of rum, a splash each of lime juice and simple syrup and a handful of ice in your blender. When the drink is smooth, pour it into a tall glass and garnish it with a fresh strawberry.
Another variation of the fruity Daiquiri is the mango Daiquiri. Instead of fresh strawberries, substitute chunks of mango. Since mangoes aren't as sweet as strawberries, add extra simple syrup or consider using a liqueur like triple sec to increase the sugar.
Frozen Peach Bellini
For a warm weather brunch, try a peach Bellini instead of a Mimosa. Combine an ounce of peach schnapps, an ounce and a half of dry Champagne, a half cup of fresh or frozen peaches and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice in your blender with ice. Pour the cocktail into a glass. Top if off with a little Champagne for extra fizz and a slice of peach or a pretty flower.
Blended Raspberry Martini
For your next party, blend up a pitcher of frozen raspberry Martinis. Keep it on the light side by using a tub of raspberry Crystal Light or a similar drink mix, two cups of ginger ale, a half cup of vodka and a couple cups of ice. Toss all the ingredients in your blender and, when you are ready to serve, pour them into Martini glasses and garnish them with fresh berries.
Refreshing Watermelon Cocktail
Watermelon is one of the signature fruits of summer. Use that leftover fresh watermelon to concoct a tasty frozen cocktail. Cube about a cup and a half of watermelon, and combine it with two shots of vodka, a few drops of grenadine (for color and sweetness) and a handful of ice in the blender. Blend until smooth, and pour the drink into a highball glass. Garnish it with a slice of watermelon.
