How to Make a Chocolate Martini

Chocolate Martini Instructions

If you are looking for a sweet twist on a classic cocktail recipe, try making a chocolate Martini. While traditional Martini recipes use gin, vodka has opened the door for new variations. Among the most intriguing are chocolate Martinis.

The ingredients for a chocolate Martini vary according to your tastes. Use the following for a basic recipe:

  • 2 ounces premium vodka
  • 1 ounce dark crème de cacao
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon chocolate syrup
  • 1 small strawberry for garnish

Prepare the Glass

Moisten the rim of the glass with a few drops of crème de cacao, and dip it into the cocoa powder to rim the glass. Chill the cocktail glass before preparing the remaining ingredients.

Prepare the Drink

Pour the vodka and crème de cacao into a shaker filled halfway with ice cubes. Shake it vigorously for 10 seconds, strain, and pour into the glass.

Garnish and Serve

Dip the strawberry in the chocolate syrup and place it on the rim of the glass. Your Martini is ready to drink.

Godiva Chocolate Variation

Switch up the traditional chocolate Martini by making it a Godiva Martini. To mix, combine two ounces of Godiva Chocolate Liqueur and one ounce of vodka. Garnish with Godiva chocolates pierced with cocktail picks.

Vanilla Twist

Vanilla is a wonderful complement to chocolate. Swap out the regular vodka in the original recipe with vanilla flavored vodka.

Strawberry Chocolate Martini

Instead of just a strawberry garnish, add more summertime sweetness to your drink. Combine two ounces of strawberry vodka and two ounces of white crème de cacao to create a delicious strawberry concoction.

Chocolate Martinis are a special drink to celebrate any occasion. Once you master the original recipe, branch out and try a new variation, like a Bailey's Chocolate Martini.
