We find the combo of bananas and coconut especially ap-peel-ing in this creamy, coconutty concoction. With caramely dark rum, smooth and sweet Irish cream, and tropical notes from bananas and coconut, this is more dessert than drink. 

How to Make a BBC Drink

Aren't blender drinks just the best? Dump everything in, give it a whirl, and you have a smooth, creamy cocktail in almost no time at all. 

Ingredients

  • 1½ ounces dark rum
  • 1 ounce Irish cream
  • 1 ounce cream of coconut
  • 1 whole banana, peeled
  • 1 cup ice
  • Whipped cream and cherry for gaarnish

Instructions

  1. In a blender, add ice, dark rum, Irish cream, cream of coconut, and banana.
  2. Blend until smooth or desired consistency.
  3. Pour into a highball or cocktail glass.
  4. Garnish with whipped cream and cherry.

Variations of the BBC Drink

The BBC is one cocktail with a fairly set list of ingredients. However, you can use any of these suggestions to make it your own.

  • Add a splash of banana liqueur to really make that banana flavor pop.
  • If you want a more prominent coconut flavor, use a coconut rum or additional cream of coconut.
  • Skip the ice and use three whole, frozen peeled bananas instead.
  • Play around with the proportions you use! Add a little extra Irish cream or use a little bit less cream of coconut. Try not to use more than two ounces of dark rum, though.
  • Create a little extra depth of richness by adding a half-ounce of coffee liqueur.

Dress up your BBC cocktail or allow the smooth drink to shine using a simpler garnish.

  • Keep with the simplicity of the cocktail by using only shredded coconut as a garnish.
  • Make it extra elegant by using toasted shredded coconut. You can easily make your own by adding one to two cups of shredded coconut to a 350°F preheated oven, allowing it to toast for approximately ten minutes or until the coconut is a browned, toasted color.
  • Dip the rim of the cocktail glass into a sauce of simple syrup and follow it by dipping it into shredded coconut.
  • Sprinkle the toasted coconut over a bit of whipped cream.
  • If you added coffee liqueur, sprinkle three whole coffee beans overtop.
  • Pierce several banana slices on a cocktail skewer.
