Miami Vice Cocktail

A Miami Vice cocktail is a frozen blended cocktail perfect for sipping in hot weather. It is a sweet and refreshing drink with flavors of strawberries and coconut.

How to Make a Miami Vice

To make this drink, you will need a blender and crushed ice. The drink is layered, so it takes multiple steps to make.

  • 5 ounces white rum, divided
  • 8 ounces piña colada mixer
  • 8 ounces strawberry daiquiri mixer
  • 3 scoops ice, divided

  1. Place 2.5 ounces rum, piña colada mix, and 1.5 scoops ice in a blender.
  2. Blend until smooth.
  3. Pour mixture into a pitcher and rinse blender bowl.
  4. Place 2.5 ounces rum and daiquiri mix in the blender with 1.5 scoops of ice.
  5. Blend until smooth.
  6. Pour piña colada mixture and daiquiri mixture into tall glasses, alternating between the two to create a layered effect.
  7. Serve garnished with a slice of pineapple.

While there are no formal variations of this recipe, you can make several simple switches to create different versions of a Miami Vice cocktail.

  • Omit rum to make virgin cocktails.
  • Use 151 rum in place of white rum for stronger cocktails.
  • Replace rum with tequila.

Perfect for Summer

This chilled, fruity drink is the perfect summertime umbrella drink. The next time you have a backyard barbecue on a sunny day, try serving a Miami Vice.
