Ingredients

  • 6-10 slices thick-cut bacon, cooked
  • 750mL vodka
  • Two large clean bottles or jars
  • Cheesecloth or other fine strainer
  • Funnel

Instructions

  1. In a large clean bottle or jar, add prepared bacon and vodka.
  2. After capping, swirl container gently.
  3. Store in a cool, dark place for approximately 3 to 4 days, swirling the container gently each day.
  4. Sample by pouring into a glass. If you want more flavor, allow to steep longer.
  5. Carefully remove bacon and discard.
  6. Pour the infused vodka into the second clean bottle, filtering with the cheesecloth.
  7. Carefully seal.

You can use the infused vodka right away. You can also store unused vodka tightly sealed in a cool, dark place for approximately one to two years without flavor being affected. Discard when the flavor starts to fade or tastes "off."

Variations of Bacon-Infused Vodka

Balance out the salty, savory flavors of bacon with something a little light, or go all-in with earthy flavors.

  • Take things to the sweeter side by adding a half cup of maple syrup, not to mention this will become breakfast in a bottle.
  • Add a teaspoon or so of brown sugar to sweeten things up.
  • Give your bacon vodka some heat by infusion with a tablespoon of black peppercorns, and you can go up to two for a bold black pepper flavor. Or, use pepper bacon.
  • If you prefer a different style of heat, slice up to two fresh, clean jalapeños to add to your bacon infusion. Be sure to omit seeds.
  • Peel and slice half a shallot to give the bacon vodka a deeper umami flavor.
  • Toss in half to a full cup of peeled and cubed pineapple.
