Vodka with ice, lemon and rosemary

Ingredients

  • 4-6 fresh rosemary sprigs
  • 750mL vodka
  • Two large clean bottles or jars
  • Cheesecloth or other fine strainer
  • Funnel

Instructions

  1. Thoroughly wash rosemary sprigs and pat dry.
  2. In a large clean bottle or jar, add prepared rosemary sprigs and vodka.
  3. After capping, swirl container gently.
  4. Store in a cool, dark place for approximately 3 to 4 days, swirling the container gently each day.
  5. Taste your vodka. Does have enough flavor? If so, you can continue. If not, steep another day or two and test again.
  6. Carefully remove the rosemary sprigs and discard them.
  7. Filter through cheesecloth into a clean bottle or jar and seal.

You can drink your vodka right away or store unused vodka tightly sealed in a cool, dark place for approximately one to two years without flavor being affected. Discard when the flavor starts to fade or tastes "off."

Variations of Rosemary-Infused Vodka

Rosemary vodka is elegant all on its own. However, museums never stop adding new and exciting art, so don't stop infusing just yet.

  • Pair your rosemary vodka with soft fruit flavors. Toss in a clean, whole sliced apple or pear. For other fruits, add a cup of sliced apricots, grapes, or hulled and sliced strawberries.
  • Give your vodka citrus flair by including two to three whole, sliced lemons or limes. You can include a single large, sliced grapefruit or orange, too.
  • Walk the herbaceous side with one to two whole, peeled cloves of garlic or three to five parsley, sage, or thyme sprigs.
  • Go floral and sweet by adding a half cup of honey simple syrup or three to four fresh, clean lavender sprigs.
  • Experiment with a few unusual flavors by adding a cup of clean, sliced green beans or two to three cooked thick-cut bacon slices.
